Oakhill 1sts win the ISA Shield and defeat the top CCC School!

Congratulations to the 1st V tennis team who have topped off a great victory in the ISA by also winning the CIS/CCC Championship on Monday 18th August.

Entering the ISA competition as hot favorites, Oakhill 1sts easily accounted for St Pat's, winning the final 8 sets (48 games) to 0 (10 games). After that great win, the 1sts traveled to Newcastle to play against the top CCC school and also won this competition without dropping a set. Oakhill will now play the top Combined High School to determine the number 1 school in NSW.

On Saturday 16th August, 6 Oakhill teams contested finals, with the 1sts, 17 A's and 13 A's all winning their respective competitions. Three out of five A's finals was enough to secure the ISA Champion School shield - determined by adding the placing of all A's teams. Well done to all players and thank you to Mark Sullivan, Steve Fogarty, Michael Bajorski and Jerel David for their work with all the players this season.

General Information
Similar to Basketball, students can play tennis at Oakhill year round. As current ISA Senior Champions, tennis enjoys a high profile at the College and it is hoped that this success continues. In 2007 Oakhill not only won the ISA competition, but proceeded to win the CIS knockout, then defeated the top Catholic and State High Schools to win the NSW Championship Shield.

At Oakhill, students can play in one of two competitions

Local Competition. Oakhill enters teams in the Hills District Local competition in terms 4 and 1. year 7 students can not play local comp until term 4. Teams are graded according to their ability and all games are played in the Hills District.

Oakhill will also be entering teams in the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Competition. This competition runs between Terms two and three. For the ISA Competition, teams are graded according to ability and Age. Year 7 students can be selected to play against older boys, with a year 7 boy competing in the 1st V team in 2007.

Each year Oakhill sends a number of elite players to the Combined Independent Schools  trials. A CIS team is selected at under 15’s level and Opens. Only top ranked Year 7 students are sent to these trials.

All ISA games are played on the College courts, of which there are 5 in total.
