Sports news 2010

23rd August. Congratulations to the 16 A's soccer on their premierships win on Saturday Vs St Pat's. After extra time the score was 0-0. Oakhill finished the competition in first place and subsequently were awarded the premiership. Well done to the 2nds, 3rds and 4ths netball teams on their weekend wins. The 1sts netball were desperately unlucky, losing to Redlands by 1 point.

17th August. The ISA tennis finals and soccer semi finals were held last weekend. In addition, all Oakhill netball teams were either contesting semi finals or had already progressed to the finals this weekend. Well done to the 1sts tennis on their 5th successive ISA title. Good luck to all netball teams this weekend in the finals at Minto. Well done to the 13 C's soccer team on their grand final victory over St Patrick's last weekend. Good luck tot he 14 A's this Saturday Vs St Pius and the 16 A's Vs St Patrick's.

9th August. Congratulations to the following rugby teams on their premierships this season:

2nd XV, 4th XV, 5th XV, 16 A's, 16 B's, 16 C's, 15 A's, 14 A's, 14 B's and 13 A's. These great results also helped secure the Schools Championship Shield for Oakhill> Well done to all players and coaches.

Congratulations to all football teams, tennis teams and netball teams on their season so far. Semi final times to be published as soon as possible this week. netball finals to be played at Minto, tennis finals at Barker College and soccer finals to be hosted by the higher placed teams. Soccer finals to be played at Oakhill on the 21st August

Well done to Maine Vidler on his run at the recent All Schools cross country. Maine finished in 2nd place by the smallest of margins - one second. he will now go on to represent NSW at the Nationals in Brisbane in August

28th July  Congratulations to the following boys on their recent sporting achievements.

Cale Angeloni has been selected in the NSW Under 15's Rugby team to tour Queensland later in 2010.

James McCallum has been selected as a member of the Australian Under 13's Baseball team, which will compete in the Cal Ripken World Series in Maryland, USA in August. The team will play in the International Pool against countries such as Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. James is a left handed Pitcher and 1st Baseman.

Mitchell Thomson will be taking part in a Baseball competition in St. Louis, USA, during August. He is a member of the Under 12's NSW Baseball Team.

June/July 2010

Congratulations to the following boys on their recent sporting achievements.

Well done to Luke Keary on his selection in the Australia A Schools rugby team.

Rowan Furlong for an outstanding performance at the NSW All Schools Golf Championship - Rowan will now compete at the SSA Championship to be held in Port Macquarie from 21st -26th August. Daniel Terranova who placed 7th in the CIS Boys 16 year olds 6km run, Andrew Louw who placed 5th in the CIS Boys 15 year olds 4km run, Maine Vidler (RECORD) who placed 1st in the Boys 14 year olds 4km run and Tom Roberts who placed 4th in the Boys 12 year olds 3km run.

Also, congratulations to Jordan Thompson who won the ITF Australia Tournament in Brisbane - his first singles title on the ITF junior tour. Jordan is also competing in Fiji from 31st July to 7th August. Dominic Woodward will be competing in the World Boys Baseball Tournament in Mexico from the 9th August until the 24th August. Hayden van Vlimmeren of year 7, will be taking part in a Baseball Competition being held in St. Louis, USA during August. Patrick Holm of year 7, will be competing in the International Baseball Tour to St Louis, USA. Matthew Munnik has been selected as a team member in the U/16 All Schools Boys Hockey Team.

Siatua Solaese is a member of the NSW Under 16 Mens Basketball Team who competed in and won the Australian Under 16 Nationals in Queensland recently. Siatua was the top scorer for NSW and also had the highest Field Goal percentage for the entire tournament. He was nominated the Most Valuable Player and has been asked to attend the training camps with the All Australian Under 17 team.

Congratulations to Rowan Furlong on his selection in the NSW Schools golf team for 2010. Rowan was one of 6 NSW boys selected in the State team based on his perform ace at the NSW Championships last week. Rowan will play in the nationals at Port Macquarie in week 6 of term 3 2010. Well done Rowan and good luck!

Monday 28th June - Congratulations to Declan Smith and Luke Keary (NSWSRU 1st XV) and Josh Calderan (NSWSRU 2nd XV) on their selections in rep teams this year. The three boys will head to Brisbane on the 2nd July to contest the National Championships.

Monday 26th April - Congratulations to the 1st XV on their nail biting victory over Knox Grammar. Oakhill won 13-12 with a penalty kick on the bell. Well done.

Monday 28th March. Well done to all rugby teams on their efforts Vs Barker College on Saturday. Special mention must be made of the 14 A's. last year barker defeated the Oakhill 13 A's by over 50 points. This year Oakhill managed to secure a hard fought victory. Well done!

Thank you to all families who were involved in billeting students from Downlands College Toowoomba over the weekend. Oakhill enjoys a strong relationship with Downlands and once again Oakhill families ensured all students from Queensland enjoyed their stay. Due to the year 12 exams, we had to field a young team and struggled to compete with the much bigger Downlands team. Well done to all players involved in the game.

Friday 26th March. Congratulations to Jordan S and Jordan T on their selection on the NSW Schools tennis team. Selection in this team is a great achievement. To have two boys from the one school is remarkable - well done.

Monday 15th March. Well done to all students that competed a the ISa Cross Country Carnival on the 13th march. Special mention must be made of the following students:

Tom R - under 12's - 1st place, Jason G - Under 13's - 3rd place, Luke P - Under 14's - 2nd place, Andrew L- Under 15's - 1st place, Henry J - under 18 boys 1st place and Kurt H - under 18 boys 3rd place. Well done.

Monday 8th March. Oakhill Swim team wins the ISA shield for a 5th consecutive year! Well done to all members of the swim team on this fantastic achievement. Well done also to the Junior boys, Senior boys and Senior girls teams on winning their respective shields. Congratulations to Kurt H on two outstanding achievements in particular. Kurt broke ex Oakhillian and Olympian Grant Brits' 2005 100m freestyle time on Friday. Old time 54.63. new record 53.01. Kurt was also a member of the Oakhill senior 4 x 50 relay team that also set a new record in a time of 1.39.01. Well done.

Monday 8th March. Oakhill basketball teams dominate ISA finals. Well done to the 13 White (development), 13 A's, 14 A's, 15 A's, 17 Maroon (Division 2) , Open Gold (Division 3) and 1st V on their premiership victories on Saturday. Oakhill A teams also retained the Schools Championship shield for a third consecutive year. the 1st V will now play CAS champions Trinity Grammar at Oakhill on Saturday 13th March.

Monday 1st March. Congratulations to Danielle W on receiving a CIS blue award at the CIS dinner on Friday 26th February. Well done! Congratulations to Jordan T and Cameron S on their CIS awards. Both Cameron and Jordan were members of the CIS tennis team in 2009. The CIS tennis team won the team of the year for 2009 - well done.

After the ISA semi finals on Saturday, the boys basketball team was selected. Congratulations to Oakhill captain Tom B and Jake T on their selection in the 1sts. Well done also to Greg M and Sam L on their selection in the ISA 2nds.

Wednesday 24th February Oakhill win the junior, intermediate and senior shields at the Oakhill Invitational Carnival, held in the College Pool on Tuesday 23rd February.

Congratulations to Chiara B and Natalie Y on their selection in their ISA Basketball team. The ISA teams were selected at trials held at Oakhill on Monday 22nd February. Well done!

Tuesday 23rd February Oakhill win the Redlands Invitational Swim carnival (with Ravenswood) for second year in a row!

Monday 22nd February Kurt H National Champion! Congratulations to Kurt who won the 17/18 5000m in Victoria on Friday in a time of 59 minutes. Kurt is also captain of the College Swim team this year. Well done!

16th February. Congratulations to the Oakhill swimming team on winning the St Andrew's Cathedral School Carnival on Saturday 13th February. In atrocious conditions, the depleted Oakhill swim team swam superbly, to win the Carnival for a 5th consecutive year!

29th January 2010. Term 1 2010 is off to a flying start with all ISA sport commencing on the 30th January. For times and venues go to basketball - game times - 30th January. Good luck to all teams. Rugby and soccer registration in the next two weeks.

1st December 2009.  Two ex Oakhill students to represent Australia at the 2010 Vancouver Para Olympics. Congratulations to Bart Bunting http://www.paralympiceducation.org.au/paralympic/teachers_athletes_profile/BartBunting/ and Nick Watts on their selection in the Australian team and good luck in Canada!
